About NTBRL
National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory (NTBRL) is an accredited laboratory(ISO15189:2012) located in the city of Bulawayo (Southern region of Zimbabwe). NTBRL has established and is implementing a sound quality management system that meets the requirements of ISO15189:2022 and ISO/IEC 17043:2023.
NTBRL serves as a referral facility for the Southern Region of Zimbabwe. NTBRL performs specialized diagnostic testing for TB and Covid 19, disease surveillance, support and supervision of laboratories and a provider of proficiency testing samples for Genexpert MTB RIF/Ultra & TrueNat assays. TB diagnostic scopes provided at NTBRL are ZN microscopy, GeneXpert, Solid & Liquid Culture, First Line & Second line Phenotypic DST and Genotypic DST(LPA).
