As thee National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory, it is important to maintain the highest standards of quality and accuracy in all of our testing procedures. To ensure this, our staff members recently underwent training on ISO 15189:2022 , a standard for medical laboratories. The training was supported by the The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute(CLSI) through their Healthcare QMS Specialists Dr Wilson Mtotela and Mr Raymond Nyakuwocha. The Director of Laboratory Services Dr Raiva Simbi and the National Quality Coordinator Mr Michael Makaya also graced the event.
ISO 15189:2022 is the latest international standard that outlines the requirements for the quality and competence of medical laboratories. It covers a wide range of topics, including management systems, staff qualifications, and quality control procedures.

Our staff members who received training on ISO 15189:2022 were taught about the various aspects of the standard, including the importance of maintaining accurate and reliable test results, the need for effective management systems, and the importance of having well-trained and qualified staff members.
By implementing the principles of ISO 15189:2022, we can ensure that our laboratory is operating at the highest level of quality and that our test results can be trusted by our clients. This training will also help us to maintain our accreditation, which is an important step in demonstrating our commitment to quality.
Overall, we are committed to providing the best possible service to our clients, and this training was an important part of that effort. By ensuring that our staff members are well-trained and knowledgeable about the latest standards and best practices, we can continue to be a trusted and reliable reference laboratory.
